Kelly Pousette – Tiny Worlds, Big Imagination

“I feel there is something very humbling, and special, about sitting down to create something – and all you have in front of you is a blank sheet of paper, and your imagination.” Kelly Pousette weaves 3-D paperscapes to showcase a world of wonder and ingenuity. Raised in British Columbia, Pousette was drawn to paper for its impermanence; the idea of using your own hands to create the work around you, where every cut and bend means something. As an illustrator of multiple children’s books, she encourages those inspired by her paper illustration to jump in and to not be afraid of imperfections! The most important thing, is trying again.

Emma Taylor – Paper Sculptures

Sustainability plays a vital role in Emma Taylor’s artistry. Using repurposed vintage and degraded books as her medium, UK-based artist Taylor builds delicate botanical sculptures that transform the old into something beautifully new. Poetically, she honors the natural world by turning her paper source back into the trees it came from. She embraces the use of sustainable materials in her art, emphasizing the importance of knowledge whether it is in nature or our history, to connect our personal roots back home.
